Dig-in Leader Training
The date is set for our 2023 spring Dig-in Leader Training. Dig-in leaders are Green Corn Project’s most valuable resource! The more Dig-in Leaders we have, the more people we can help. We are always on the lookout for volunteers willing to take the next step and become Dig-in Leaders.
2023 Spring Dig-in Leader Training:
Our spring Dig-in Leader training will be Saturday, February 4th from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
What’s Involved in Dig-in Leader Training?
The training covers all aspects of being a Dig-in Leader, from garden preparation and planting techniques to efficient management of volunteer groups. No prior gardening experience is necessary. This season, we’re incorporating one of our Seeds to Starts (STS) workshops with our Dig-in Leader Training. Volunteers for STS will join us halfway through the Dig-in Leader training giving you a chance to learn how we grow our transplants as well as a chance to work with other volunteers.
Once you’ve completed the training, new Dig-in Leaders are encouraged to register for at least one Dig-in for the current season giving you the opportunity to gain hands-on experience accompanying an experienced Dig-in leader.
What you need to bring:
As for all Dig-ins, please bring sun protection, closed toed shoes (digging in flip flops is no fun), water, gardening gloves if you use them, and snacks or lunch if you want them. We will provide all the necessary tools and instruction; you do not need any prior training.
In case of bad weather:
Please be sure to check the website and your e-mail both the night before and the morning of the training as it is possible that we may need to reschedule due to weather or ground conditions.
