Dig-in Leader Training

Our 2024 Spring Dig-in Leader Training is complete. Check back for information on our fall training or let us know at a Dig-in if you’re interested in becoming a leader.

Dig-in leaders are Green Corn Project’s most valuable resource! The more Dig-in Leaders we have, the more people we can help. We are always on the lookout for volunteers willing to take the next step and become Dig-in Leaders.

What’s Involved in Dig-in Leader Training?

The training covers all aspects of being a Dig-in Leader, from garden preparation and planting techniques to efficient management of volunteer groups. No prior gardening experience is necessary. Once you’ve completed the training, new Dig-in Leaders are encouraged to register for at least one Dig-in for the current season giving you the opportunity to gain hands-on experience accompanying an experienced Dig-in leader. You can register now to attend a Dig-in.

    What you need to bring:

As for all Dig-ins, please bring sun protection, closed toed shoes (digging in flip flops is no fun), water, gardening gloves if you use them, and snacks or lunch if you want them. We will provide all the necessary tools and instruction; you do not need any prior training.

    In case of bad weather:

Please be sure to check the website and your e-mail both the night before and the morning of the training as it is possible that we may need to reschedule due to weather or ground conditions.
