Join GCP at our next Biointensive Gardening Skills Workshop! This hands-on class will teach you the basics of biointensive gardening, an organic gardening method that builds the soil and produces more vegetables in a small area. You will receive personalized instruction and practice in the techniques of:

  • Double-digging your garden bed to "grow" your soil
  • Composting
  • Intensive and companion planting
  • Seed saving and starting
  • Garden planning

Our workshop leaders, Amy Crowell and Max Elliott, have been trained in the biointensive method and have more than 20 years of collective organic farming and gardening experience. Max received his certification in Ecological Horticulture from the Center for Sustainable Food Systems at the University of California at Santa Cruz and is currently working to establish Urban Roots, an urban organic farm for youth in the Austin area. In addition to her work for Green Corn Project, Amy maintains a backyard food garden that feeds her family and friends. Amy has owned and operated her own organic farm and is the co-founder of the Dartmouth Organic Farm.
